You may have noticed that my blogging frequency has been decreasing. This is due in part to the fact that there is not a lot going on right now. I'm still in the "wait and see" mode until May or June when I expect to see the hookworms to do there thing. Since I'm not on any medication this time around, I've been treating my worm-induced symptoms with an Imodium a day, giving me regular bowel movements. I occasionally still have pain in my side, but this past week I've seen less of that, including days of no pain.
Many of the people I've met who are trying helminthic therapy or other alternative treatments, often talk about what they can do to help further the exposure of the thing that "cures what ails 'em." Not having the education or the attention span to understand a treatment down to its chemical properties or having the energy to organize a march on Washington, I've decided to go with my strengths. So the other reason I've been blogging less is because I've been distracted by another outlet for writing - science fiction. What started as a daydream of escapism, has now found its way onto paper as a future universe shaping into a novel. I figure if Gene Roddenberry can give us automatic doors at the grocery store through his influence with Star Trek, then maybe I can at least get people thinking a little more about what could happen if humanity continues to treat the symptoms of autoimmune disease rather than seeking out the causes.
I look forward to your novel :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Luke. I wish you luck in your novel. I can see many important statements made about how the pursuit of scientific and technological progress matters little if we forget our past.
